Mike Peters has over ten years of experience in the energy industry with a focus on policy analysis and stakeholder engagement. Drawing from his background in the oil and gas industry, Mike has a broad view of the politics and policies that are shaping the energy and sustainability agenda across the country, and uses this to drive a practical, solution-oriented approach to client issues.
In his role, he provides senior-level counsel on policy developments and engagement strategies to clients, working with them to identify key issues, assess options, and move forward strategically. His focus areas include climate change, electricity and renewable power, natural resources, environmental assessment, species at risk, and Indigenous consultation at provincial and federal levels of government.
Prior to joining Global Public Affairs, Mike spent six years working for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) working on oil and gas industry issues as the Manager of Federal Regulatory and Northern Affairs. In that capacity, he worked extensively with industry and federal and territorial governments on policy, legislative and regulatory developments.
Based in Calgary, Mike is a board member of HIV Community Link and Shader Kids. He holds a BA in Political Science from Dalhousie University and a Masters in International and European Politics from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
