Thoren Hudyma brings to Global two decades of experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs, with a focus on reputation and crisis management in controversial sectors. What makes Thoren unique is her many years of first-hand experience leading public campaigns for companies that have already gained a social license and public support in B.C.’s complex regulatory and stakeholder environment. She is recognized for her ability to work with executives, technical staff, and field staff alike to find common solutions that contribute to completing projects on time and on budget.
Most recently, at BC Hydro, Thoren led a newly-formed integrated business unit responsible for the communications, stakeholder consultation, government relations, Aboriginal communications, and sustainability activities for the company’s infrastructure program. In this role, her team was responsible for gaining community support on dozens of projects through their development of best practice programs. Before this, she was Director of Public Affairs at the BC Transmission Corporation where she was responsible for all internal and external communications and stakeholder programs on a number of successfully completed projects.
Thoren has also worked as an account director at a major public relations firm and was a media spokesperson for former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. In this role, she was responsible for speaking publicly, on behalf of the Prime Minister, on a range of high profile and controversial issues. Thoren has been a political commentator for a major national news network and has enjoyed being a regular speaker at industry conferences across North America.
