Nicole Brassard is a Consultant in the Vancouver Office of Global Public Affairs. She provides government relations, stakeholder engagement and communications support to clients in the Transportation, Infrastructure and Technology sectors. Prior to joining Global, Nicole was the Regional Director for a federal political party managing stakeholder engagement, media relations and strategic policy outreach in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Territories. Nicole has extensive experience managing election campaigns and has knowledge of strategic messaging and micro-targeting using a variety of innovative platforms. She also worked in law for more than a decade for several national and international law firms in their corporate and insurance practice groups. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Alberta and a diploma from Canadore College.

Jason’s 16-year career with the Alberta Government started in his local MLA’s Constituency Office in Airdrie, where he worked while completing his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Calgary.  Upon graduation, Jason served in the Legislature for 12 years in a variety of roles including Senior Research Officer for the Government Members’ Caucus, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Restructuring and Government Efficiency, Director of the Government Members’ Caucus, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Energy, and finally Executive Assistant to Premier Ed Stelmach.

In 2011, Jason joined Alberta’s public service and served as Executive Director for International Policy and Strategic Services in the ministry of International and Intergovernmental Relations, and as Executive Director for Strategy and Business Integration in the department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Thoren Hudyma brings to Global two decades of experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs, with a focus on reputation and crisis management in controversial sectors. What makes Thoren unique is her many years of first-hand experience leading public campaigns for companies that have already gained a social license and public support in B.C.’s complex regulatory and stakeholder environment. She is recognized for her ability to work with executives, technical staff, and field staff alike to find common solutions that contribute to completing projects on time and on budget.

Most recently, at BC Hydro, Thoren led a newly-formed integrated business unit responsible for the communications, stakeholder consultation, government relations, Aboriginal communications, and sustainability activities for the company’s infrastructure program. In this role, her team was responsible for gaining community support on dozens of projects through their development of best practice programs. Before this, she was Director of Public Affairs at the BC Transmission Corporation where she was responsible for all internal and external communications and stakeholder programs on a number of successfully completed projects.

Thoren has also worked as an account director at a major public relations firm and was a media spokesperson for former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. In this role, she was responsible for speaking publicly, on behalf of the Prime Minister, on a range of high profile and controversial issues. Thoren has been a political commentator for a major national news network and has enjoyed being a regular speaker at industry conferences across North America.

Jason Langrish is the Executive Director of the Canada Europe Roundtable for Business, an advocacy group that has been deeply involved in the launch of negotiations for a Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. He founded the Energy Roundtable in 2004 and serves as its President hosting conferences in Calgary, Toronto and London. Through this role Jason has been a major advocate for Canadian energy across Canada and internationally. Jason worked in the trade policy section of the Canadian Mission to the European Union in Brussels from 2000 to 2003. He established one of the UK’s largest environmental associations, based in London.
He is a guest lecturer at Schulich Business School in Toronto and The Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto. He was educated at the University of Victoria, University of Western Ontario and the London School of Economics.

Elan advises CEOs and senior leadership teams, leads strategic planning exercises, resolves communications issues and crisis, directs stakeholder engagement and builds advocacy strategies.  She works with clients to sustain and grow their businesses.  She has a clear understanding of what drives business decisions, factors that are incentives, as well as impediments to growth.

Elan’s experiences in the political, non‑profit, stakeholder relations and private sector arenas helped her define values on which IMPACT was founded: integrity, hard work, and a commitment to community. Elan has more than 20 years of experience working in the Alberta Legislature, where she served as Deputy Chief of Staff to former premier Ed Stelmach, and advisor to Premier Alison Redford, in addition to serving various cabinet ministers.

Elan is well-versed in the issues relevant to diversifying our economy and attracting, growing and sustaining businesses. She offers a unique perspective among government relations professionals. One that is firmly grounded in the Alberta experience, and the result of more than 20 years of working as an executive in political, private sector and community and stakeholder relations roles. Elan has lived, worked and volunteered in Alberta – with Albertans – for her entire career.

Elan is a Director on the board of Edmonton Global – whose purpose is to attract more foreign direct investment to the greater Edmonton metropolitan region – and as a member of the Advisory Board of Atlas Growers Ltd. Elan also serves as a Director with the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, where she is a member of the Chamber’s policy committee, and chairs the government relations committee. Elan also serves on NorQuest College’s 1,000 Women Advisory Board.

Katie Shaw is Vice-President, Policy & Engagement for British Columbia and leads Global’s Victoria office. Katie specializes in policy, stakeholder engagement and government advocacy. She has expertise in a diverse of sectors such as energy, education, transportation and infrastructure. She has worked closely on issues of climate change, cultural engagement and community relations. Katie has worked extensively with environmental and community non-profit organizations, national youth engagement initiatives and with Indigenous and immigrant groups. She is currently the Chair of the International Institute for Child Rights and Development and actively engaged in social justice and women’s leadership initiatives.
Katie holds a Bachelor degree in Sociology with a specialization in Social Justice and a Master’s Degree in Community Leadership and Adult Education from the University of Victoria.

Elizabeth Wagdin is Vice President and General Manager of the Global Public Affairs office in Toronto. With over 10 years of experience working in public affairs, she provides counsel and strategies to a diverse range of clients. Elizabeth works with clients to advise and execute meeting programs, lobby days and receptions at Queen’s Park and Parliament Hill. Her expertise spans sectors such as natural resources, energy, infrastructure, transportation, retail and consumer goods including both private and not-for-profit organizations. Prior to joining Global in 2006, Elizabeth worked with the Toronto District School Board as Constituency Assistant for the Trustee of Etobicoke-Lakeshore. Currently, she sits on the board for the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada. Elizabeth completed the International Association for Public Participation’s Certificate Program in Public Participation and holds both a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (Hons) and a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Guelph-Humber.

Rod Elliot is the Senior Vice President in Global Public Affairs team in Toronto, providing senior public affairs counsel to a diverse range of clients, including both the private and not-for-profit organizations. His expertise lies in government relations and legislative processes, primarily in the health and life sciences space. Currently, he is also focused on cannabis legalization and policy. Before joining Global, Rod gained significant political experience in a number of roles with the Ontario Government at Queen’s Park. In addition, Rod spent seven years at TD Bank Financial Group executing government relations programs on behalf of the bank. Rod holds a Certificate in Corporate Community Involvement from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Mass Communications and Political Science from Carleton University.

Andrew Retfalvi is a Director in Global’s Toronto office, leading provincial-level mandates in the health and life sciences sector. Focused on Ontario and Atlantic Canada, Andrew advises clients on provincial policy environments and issue-specific initiatives and supports stakeholder relations and advocacy activities. Andrew has worked on numerous political campaigns at all levels of government, with involvement ranging from communications and volunteer organization to campaign management. Andrew joined Global after having worked for the Federal Court in Ottawa, where he coordinated immigration litigation matters for members of the judiciary. Andrew holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from Carleton University, and a postgraduate certificate in Public Relations from Humber College.

Hershell Ezrin is Senior Counsel of Advocacy, Public Affairs and Strategic Communications at Global Public Affairs. He is a former senior public servant and political adviser for three levels of government and is a former CEO of two multinational companies. Hershell is also a former corporate director in energy, financial services and service sectors and a leader in health, arts and community affairs. He currently lectures in two post-graduate programs and is an honorary lifetime governor of the Canadian Journalism Foundation.

John Allen heads the public affairs practice group in the Toronto office, providing integrated government relations and communications support. He works across sectors, with a primary focus on infrastructure, trade, and investment. As part of this work, he established the Infrastructure Lab as a platform for positive dialogue between industry and government to get the most value from infrastructure projects. Prior to joining Global, John spent nine years in Brussels where he worked at the European Parliament, the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU, and an international public affairs firm – working with leading international companies, foundations, and organizations. He currently sits on the board of the British Canadian Chamber of Trade and Commerce and the EU Chamber of Commerce in Canada. John has an MBA from Vlerick Business School in Belgium and a BA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Birmingham (UK).
